Many young people experience barriers to communication that affect how they learn, relate to others and engage in school. Examples include language difficulties, disability, trauma and disrupted education which can affect how young people understand others, express themselves and take part in everyday life.
We provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive speech therapy that builds on each young person’s strengths. Fiona has extensive experience working alongside social workers and psychologists, Intensive Wraparound Service (IWS), RTLB, Youth Justice services and Oranga Tamariki and ACC to support children and young people with complex communication needs. Together with young people, whānau and the professionals around them, we develop practical strategies that strengthen communication, increase participation and help young people thrive.
